Static Cling
Earlier today I was cruising YouTube for various “Gong Show” clips and I came across this brilliance. The band’s name is Static Cling. I get the feeling they were a joke, but if they weren’t, I demand more info on them from all you crusty old punk rockers out there.

Yeah, I just foud it too, but I was lookig for it. I’m pretty sure it was a band called “The Barf”, with Pat Mullus as the drummer. They played the gong show a few times, and I was looking for a clip. On this one they are wearing makeup and masks, so I’m not 110% sure. I’m pretty sure though. So Cal all the way. Pat was also in rhe Stepmothers. go to Steve Alba’s salbaland.com site and check it out under the “badlands” info page. steve is a skater from way back, and he is/was friends with Pat. I heard about Pat’s band being on the Gong show when i was a teenager, so I watched it, and i was looking for some record of the show. Youtube rules.
That’s all I’ve got at this point, let me know what you find out.

Yes, you are correct, this is Tom the bass player of Static Kling aka. ( the Barf ) & it is Pat on drums along with chuck on guitar and Kenny on vocals. all of us are from the Inland Empire of So Cal. It started out being kind of a joke but grew into something pretty big recording an albums worth of material & playing at early year skateboard championship tournaments and even being invited by Chuck Barris himself to be in a newer show called ” The Chuck Barris Rah Rah show. It never went very far and the day that we were rehersing at NBC studios to record our show it was cancelled and we never aired on it.
Thanks for everything! Tom
