SAF settles New Orleans lawsuit
BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has reached an agreement with the City of New Orleans in a 2005 federal lawsuit that stopped the city from seizing firearms in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The landmark lawsuit, a joint effort by SAF and the National Rifle Association, was filed in September 2005 after police and National Guardsmen began confiscating firearms without warrant or probable cause from citizens who were not suspected of committing any crimes. Under terms of the settlement, which now awaits a judge’s signature, the city must try to return all firearms that were seized. Gun owners will be notified by mail within 30 days of the court’s approval that they can retrieve their guns.

Sadly, neither dem candidate seems to grasp the second amendment. But thankfully they will have a few more pressing issues to deal with before they come for the guns.
And as a wise friend said recently about taking our guns: “Hell, there are too many rednecks in this country to try that shit.”

You know what? It is only because the issue was settled by the “conservative majority” Supreme Court, this year, that there is a minute possibility that the next administration (which I will bet anyone $100, will NOT be the veteran and the chick) won’t go after guns right away. Privately-owned firearms by lawful citizens were, until about May 08, the easiest target for WORMS like Joe Biden whose well-documented history of loathing the 2nd Amendment (and doing whatever he could to take guns out of the hands of honest citizens – http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Joe_Biden_Gun_Control.htm for starters), was legal guns. You watch, if the economy doesn’t recover in time to give them a solid accomplishment in 100 days or whatever, they’ll attack the Heller decision as it could well be a chance to be “successful.” It will be tons easier than withdrawing troops from anywhere.
