Marijuana Arrests Set New Record for 4th Year in a Row, Exceed All Violent Crimes Combined

WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the fourth year in a row, U.S. marijuana arrests set an all-time record in 2006, according to the just-released FBI Uniform Crime Reports. Marijuana arrests totaled 829,627, an increase from 786,545 in 2005. Similar to previous years, 738,916 or 89 percent were for possession, not sale or manufacture, and marijuana possession arrests again exceeded arrests for all violent crimes combined.

So tragically stupid.

Why isn’t the terrorist Bill White in jail?

As white supremacist publishes home addresses of civil rights leaders, FBI mum

The white supremacist who posted the home addresses of five members of the so-called “Jena 6” on a website says he also plans to reveal the personal information of Rev. Jesse Jackson. He has already posted what he claims are addresses for Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III on his blog, which also carries the Jena addresses.

Following up on a story from the the Associated Press, which reported it had been unable to contact the extremist leader for comment regarding his publication of the Jena teens’ addresses, RAW STORY reached White by telephone at his Roanoke home late Sunday night.

During the call, White stopped short of directly calling for violence against the three civil rights activists, saying only that it was important that those angered by the leaders’ support for the Jena students “knew where to find them.”

Why isn’t this sub-human piece of trash in jail? Or do we only think that little brown people can be terrorists, not fine upstanding white folks in silly outfits? I think this fella needs to spend a weekend in some south Los Angeles general lockup for an attitude adjustment.

Sex Pistols 2007? YES!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Now this is what we’ve been missing!

The Sex Pistols have re-recorded their classic tracks ‘Anarchy in UK’ and ‘Pretty Vacant’ for the Guitar Hero video game…but there’s more…

Pistols are playing live in L.A. in October, the UK in November to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the release of their first singles, which are all being reissued in the UK and Japan in hopes to finally capture the #1 spot on the British charts, which, according to legend, the Pistols earned- but were denied due to politics- for “Anarchy”.

All this and more at John Lydon’s site or at The Filth and the Fury.

Daniel Ellsberg: A Coup Has Occurred

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I think nothing has higher priority than averting an attack on Iran, which I think will be accompanied by a further change in our way of governing here that in effect will convert us into what I would call a police state.

More of Patriot Act struck down

More of Bush’s Enabling Act found to be unconstitutional:

Oregon judge knocks down part of Patriot Act

SEATTLE (Reuters) – An Oregon judge on Wednesday ruled that two provisions of the Patriot Act violated the U.S. Constitution’s protection against unlawful searches and seizures.

U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken ruled in favor of Brandon Mayfield, a lawyer wrongly arrested by the FBI in 2004 for possible ties to the Madrid train bombings, who challenged the secret searches of his home and office.

The judge said the amendments made by the Patriot Act to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allows the government to conduct searches and monitor American citizens without probable cause, which is typically required by the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Giuliani Party Seeks $9.11 Per Person

WASHINGTON — A supporter of Rudy Giuliani’s is throwing a party that aims to raise $9.11 per person for the Republican’s presidential campaign.

The current front-runner for the Republican nomination for President is allowing this.

Really, no more needs to be said.

M’Fer, I want more O’Reilly

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

For six years, the rational and intelligent among us have had to endure a near endless barrage of hate speech, propaganda and outright lying from our media. 15 minutes subjected to a cable news program or AM talk radio staggers the mind with the complete Alice in Wonderland spectacle of it all. Things that any normal person knows to be untrue are routinely accepted as fact (All Muslims want to kill us), heroes are scorned repeatedly (Max Cleland, Cindy Sheehan) while swaggering chickenhawks (Bush, Cheney, et al) question the patriotism and sacrifice of those who actually served. It is a loathsome, disgusting spectacle, one that cheapens our public discourse, dumbs down an already ignorant citizenry, and allows our country to commit the most horrendous violations of human rights without restraint.

That our country is a kind, benevolent ruler of the planet has always- since we snatched Hawaii away from the natives- been a farce. We rape, we plunder, we ruin countries militarily, economically and socially. But at least until the last six years, we largely made the trains run on time. Not anymore. Katrina. Minnesota bridges. Sub prime loans. It’s all falling apart. It’s falling apart not because the system doesn’t work- it will, after a fashion, if left alone, work. It’s failing because the people who control the system don’t believe in the system.

You cannot dodge the draft and then 30 years later send people to war.
You cannot legislate public schools and then send your children to private institutions.
You cannot make millions from the energy business and then state we must end our dependence on oil.

Anyone pausing a moment to think about any of the above quickly agrees. Its just common sense. But in the last six years, we haven’t been allowed that moment. No time for reflection, contemplation, study. Not when we have the braying of 24 hour news piped into all public places- bars, airports, waiting rooms, all filled with nonstop clatter of lies. Warmongering, big government propaganda spewed at us constantly, to the point that it becomes a wall of noise. Dissension is marginalized, penalized, silenced, instead of discussed. Histrionic as it sounds, our nation cannot long survive on a currency of lies. Not when the lies don’t work.

How does this relate to Bill O’Reilly you might ask?

O’Reilly, along with Hannity, Limbaugh, and the mentally deranged Michael Savage are the leading Leni Riefenstahls of our era. Their incessant lying and demagoguery, combined with the nonstop cheer leading for the death of any person or idea different than themselves, should not be tolerated in a sane society. But since the only thing worse than these people is censorship, the government has no dog in this fight. (more…)

U.S. Aims To Lure Insurgents With ‘Bait’
Snipers Describe Classified Program

A Pentagon group has encouraged some U.S. military snipers in Iraq to target suspected insurgents by scattering pieces of “bait,” such as detonation cords, plastic explosives and ammunition, and then killing Iraqis who pick up the items, according to military court documents.

The classified program was described in investigative documents related to recently filed murder charges against three snipers who are accused of planting evidence on Iraqis they killed.

Don’t worry- it’s still illegal to do this when hunting deer in most states.
