Who is Nancy Nord working for?

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Because it sure ain’t the American people:

Strengthening of Consumer Agency Opposed by Its Boss

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 — The top official for consumer product safety has asked Congress in recent days to reject legislation that would strengthen the agency that polices thousands of consumer goods, from toys to tools.

On the eve of an important Senate committee meeting to consider the legislation, Nancy A. Nord, the acting chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has asked lawmakers in two letters not to approve the bulk of legislation that would increase the agency’s authority, double its budget and sharply increase its dwindling staff.

Think of her the next time your kid sticks some Chinese made toy in its mouth to get that “good lead taste”.

Sibel Edmonds will talk

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Please, somebody get her on film:

FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds Will Now Tell All – and Face Charges if Necessary – to Any Major Television Network That Will Let Her

“Here’s my promise to the American Public: If anyone of the major networks — ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, FOX — promise to air the entire segment, without editing, I promise to tell them everything that I know,” about everything mentioned above, she told us.

“I can tell the American public exactly what it is, and what it is that they are covering up,” she continued. “I’m not compromising ongoing investigations,” Edmonds explained, because “they’ve all been shut down since.”

If you want to see a preview of what she knows, this will help.

Liberation?

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

In a speech marking the one year anniversary of the Iraqi invasion, George Bush said:

“Who would begrudge the Iraqi people their long- awaited liberation?”

Liberation has been the last “reason” to fall in the endless charade that is our stance in the Middle East. “50 million free” the supporters bellow. But what does liberation mean?

liberation:
…the act or fact of gaining equal rights or full social or economic opportunities for a particular group.

Liberated people don’t suffer from this:

If you have oil, we’ll steal the profits from it.

You once had a health care system that was the envy of the region, now your people die untreated.

You once had a working infrastructure, now 60% of your people have no fresh water.

And finally, when invading mercenaries slaughter without cause your citizens, the illegal occupying government grants them immunity:

Immunity deal hampers Blackwater inquiry

WASHINGTON – The State Department promised Blackwater USA bodyguards immunity from prosecution in its investigation of last month’s deadly shooting of 17 Iraqi civilians, The Associated Press has learned.

Show me liberation. Show me freedom. Show me justice. Offer the world something other than hollow lies and hypocrisy.

Why do they hate us? Can anyone seriously ask this question?

Plant and Krauss a winner

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Picked this up this weekend, and you gotta say wow…Robert Plant and Alison Krauss singing a soundtrack to a David Lynch country movie.

plnat

Hopefully it will drown out the incessant ear worm I have of the Smashing Pumpkins “Bullet with Butterfly Wings’ that was blaring out of the CD store yesterday:

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in the cage

Billy Corgan is one of those select few “musicians” who, if seen on a public street, I (and many others with ears, I’m sure) would march steadfastly toward and punch in the face. In fact, if he, Sting, and G.E. Smith (that mugging chimp guitarist from SNL) formed a band, I’d punch ’em all in the face. High school angst crap with no redeeming social value, once you’re past the age of 14.

Rummy charged with torture, slinks out back door

On Visit to France, Donald Rumsfeld Hit with Lawsuit for Ordering, Authorizing Torture

U.S. and European human rights groups filed a lawsuit in France today charging former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld with ordering and authorizing torture. The plaintiffs include the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights and the Paris-based International Federation of Human Rights. They say Rumsfeld authorized interrogation techniques that led to abuses at US-run prisons in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay.

The complaint was filed with the Paris prosecutor’s office as Rumsfeld arrived in France for a visit. This is the fifth time Rumsfeld has been charged with direct involvement in torture since 9/11.

Maybe he and the other on the lam war criminal, Kissinger, can cash in their frequent flier miles and “stay and see America” since they can’t travel too many places abroad…

What does NASA know about UFOs?

Journalist Wins: NASA To Release Papers on Baffling ’65 UFO Incident

WASHINGTON NASA has agreed to search its archives once again for documents on a 1965 UFO incident in Pennsylvania, a step the space agency fought in federal court.

The government has refused to open its files about what, if anything, moved across the sky and crashed in the woods near Kecksburg, Pa., 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Traffic was tied up in the area as curiosity seekers drove to the area, only to be kept away from the crash site by soldiers.

Anyone interested in this stuff really should read Jacques Vallee.

Uh, did nobody check the plug?

Iraqi government budgeting computer down for a month

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. spent at least $38 million to give Iraq’s government a computerized accounting system — and no one noticed when it was not working for a month, a report said Wednesday.

Just in time for Christmas…”Trial Against the Templars”

Friday, October 26th, 2007

8 grand? I’ll wait for the movie:

Vatican Releases 800-Year-Old Knights Templar Trial Record

Vatican officials have presented a new volume called “Trial Against the Templars”. The new publication is an expensive limited edition of the proceedings of the 1307-1312 papal trial of the mysterious medieval crusading order of warrior-monks who were accused of heresy.

Eight-hundred copies of the document are being published and being sold for more than $8,000 each, except one copy that is being presented to Pope Benedict XVI. Libraries and scholars from around the world have already reserved most of the volumes being published.

Oh, snap!

Dammit, what’s a rabble-rousing blog gotta do to earn the scorn o’ the stupid, I ask ya?

The Ten Most Dangerous Organizations in America

Certain organizations in America are growing powerful in American politics because the propaganda they push forward is taken as fact by many in the media and the general public. FSM Contributing Editor Jason Rantz lists what he believes to be the most dangerous of these organizations.

Their number 1? Media Matters, about whom they blather:

They are professional smear merchants who routinely attack Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto.

If attack means transcribing what they say and letting the world at large- not just the wingnuts in recliners eating cheese doodles and yelling “Hillary is a bitch” at their mothers TV- hear the ridiculous, hypocritical frothings that these clucking chickenhawks screech, then we can assume that reality itself is an attack.

Tom Petty

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

When the great songwriters of rock and roll are lauded, familiar names crop up every time- Dylan, Ray Davies, Beatles, Stones, etc. And who do those guys hang out with?

Tom Petty.

petty

And after watching the enjoyable- if way too long- “Running Down A Dream“, you begin to understand why. Not only has this guy churned out 30 years of memorable songs, he’s done it while standing his ground against the record industry, band mates, and arson. When you learn the story behind his willingness to walk away from his career rather than give up his songs, it makes you appreciate the classic “Damn the Torpedoes” album even more.

And unlike the experience of watching the Eagles reunion show– where you know every song and hate yourself for it- I bet you there is a Petty song that reminds you of a good moment in your life.

Try it.
